Please sign in to see more. We are very proud of our family. Laurent Wagner and his family came from Soufflenheim, Alsace France abt. 1882. They traveled from the coast to Ill. inwhich they had Anna in 1884. They moved on into Missouri and Louisa (lucy) was born in 1894. They traveled by covered wagon, times were hard and they brought the love of a family with them
The following concerns the Shiloh Church in Butler County, Missouri. Shiloh is the oldest cemetary in Butler Co.
A group from Tenn. decided to find a permanent home. They had heard about the west where land could be homesteaded and bought from the government for $1.50 per acre. 12 men in the group including a few familiar names. John Eudaley, James Eudaley, John Wisecarver, John Walton. They started on their way in boats on Jan. 8,1841. They settled at Cane Creek and Ten Mile Area on Dec. 11,1841.A Methodist circuit rider named John H. Headlee started the first church meeting in 1842. In 1867 John Eudaley deed 2 1/2 acres for Shiloh Church.The Abstract was dated March 7, 1871. Shiloh Church was known as the "Mother of Preachers." 23 preachers came out of Shiloh Church among them Roy F Legrand, James Eudaley. Sollie Brooks would tell the story that when he was a child he can remember attending Shiloh Church with the preacher standing at the pulpit with a loaded pistol, fear of bushwackers during the Civil War.
